We may be known for our rafting trips, but kayaking is one of our true passions. It is the ultimate way to challenge yourself and get in sync with the river. Feel the flow flex your torso as you use your body and paddle to maneuver through the water. It’s a sport that has changed many a person’s life. It may change yours too.
Inflatable Kayaks
Inflatable kayaks, or “duckies,” are a forgiving way to learn to kayak. Unlike hardshell kayaks, you sit on top of the water and therefore have more stability. Our guides are eager to teach you the finer points of paddling and will direct you through the Rogue’s class II and III rapids.
If you’re interested in getting into a duckie, don’t hesitate to give us a call, we’ll happily accommodate your interest and would love to help you plan your Rogue River trip!
Hardshell Kayaks
Hardshell kayaks are precision machines – their smooth lines and edges grant you the maneuverability to ride the river exactly how you want to. Unlike the duckies, you sit inside the hardshells with a kayaking skirt around your waist (to keep the water out). With some practice (and our instructors help) you can learn to roll so when you flip, you’ll be able to right yourself without swimming!
We welcome experienced kayakers to join us on any one of our rafting trips. If you’re looking to work on your skills or wanting to learn how to kayak, please consider our Sundance Kayak Schools. Depending on your skill level, you’ll spend six to eight days on the Rogue River learning the sport.
